Our Programs
Emergency Food
Unexpected expenses can lead to difficult financial decisions. Providing meals through the emergency food system allows families to put food on the table and focus on other matters that can help break the cycle of poverty and get back to the path of financial stability.
For people experiencing poverty, it can be difficult to navigate through all the organizations needed to meet with to get back on track. Thanks to our donors, United Way makes it simple for any individual or family experiencing or near homelessness to connect to vital services at Project Connect.
Permanent supportive housing is a long-term solution for people experiencing chronic homelessness to provide affordable and sustainable housing with access to supportive services. When a person is housed, they are paired with a case manager to build an individualized plan for the support they need.
6,300 people experience homelessness each night while there are only 2,000 beds available in local shelters. While we want to help people who are currently experiencing homelessness, we need to prevent homelessness, too.
Financial stability starts with financial knowledge. This is why we are the only non-profit that provides free financial coach training to case managers in Maricopa County. With our training, they gain the knowledge they need to easily integrate financial coaching into their daily work with clients.
Valley of the Sun United Way partners with The Siemer Institute for Family Stability to improve long-term housing. By working to increase home stability, we are also helping escalate academic success of local students.
By investing in United Way’s Helping the Working Poor Fund, which supports the AZ Credit for Donations Made to Qualifying Charitable Organizations, you put families on the path to success and financial stability.
Partnering with United Way makes it possible for APS to have a lasting impact on the lives of those who need us most through employee giving, the Loaned Executive Program and volunteer events.
Finding a time to volunteer that matches with the schedule of your busy life can be a challenge. Discovering the right at-home activity for you and your family and friends to do whenever you want is much easier! Look at these fun at-home activities with United Way to find the right one for you.
